155th Sale Show 2018 Program

Friday November 2

7:00am          Showground gates open. Cars to enter via McGhee Street and Sale-Maffra Road Gates. Once all inside parking is taken, no further vehicles will be permitted (including Show Ticket holders).

EXHIBITION PAVILIONS CLOSED WHILE JUDGING TAKES PLACE (EXPECTED TO OPEN NEAR MIDDAY)

8:00 – 9am     Arena Horse events commence. Includes: Jack & Nancy Williamson Memorial Junior Rider Over Hurdles, Pony Club Ring & the Restricted Ring for Ponies, Galloways & Hacks.

                        Live judging of the National Carrot Cake contest student sections (Primary, followed by Secondary). Event proudly sponsored by Covino Farm Produce.

Fleece Wool Pavilion open.

10:00am        Small Farm Animal Pavilion (Morrison Pavilion) open.

Sideshows open featuring all the usual rides and attractions, running until late evening.

Kids Zone entertainment commences featuring clown entertainment, Ambulance Victoria display, face-painting, animal nursery, ongoing throughout the Show. Proudly sponsored by Gippsland Centre Sale.
In the annex of the Skeen (Arts & Crafts) Pavilion, Southern Rural Water will provide display and information (as well as Water Week activity for Primary students).

10:30am        Milking demonstration in the Dairy Cattle area.

11:30am        Dairy goat milking in the Small Farm Animal Pavilion (Morrison Pavilion).

12:00noon     Exhibition Pavilions open (depending upon completion of judging).

1:00pm          Hazel McMahon Fun Ring commences on the main arena.

1:30pm          Live judging of the National Carrot Cake contest (Open and Professional sections). Event proudly sponsored by Covino Farm Produce.

3:00pm          Novelty Events for the horses commence on the main arena, leading into the Friday Night Carnival.

5:30pm          Public judging of the prestigious Champion of Champions Carrot Cake competition commences in the Nicholls pavilion. This special competition marks the 15th Anniversary of our National Great Carrot Cake Contest.

FRIDAY NIGHT CARNIVAL

Parents/carers are asked to ensure that small children have a contact phone number on them, in case the child becomes lost. Free wristbands can be obtained from the Secretary’s Office for this purpose.

6:00pm          Spectacular night carnival begins.

6:15pm          (Approx.) Jousting display preview by Kryal Castle’s Phillip Leitch.

Night carnival also features Open Stake Race, Open Barrel Race, Junior Barrel Races, Gippsland Open Flag and Barrel Classic, and Shetland Steeplechase. Proudly sponsored by Blastmasters, Glenn’s Gippsland Transport, Sale Campdrafters, Sale Polocrosse Club, M. Kelly and Saddleworld, Sale.

                        The Young Farmers’ Challenge, sponsored by Dahlsens and Cervus Equipment.

                        Sammy Xuereb and his impressive Monster Circus show featuring the Monster Ball and Jet Car, as well as Tropical Thunder Monster Truck, Wheelie Jeep and Benny the Clown. Proudly sponsored by Cervus Equipment, Dahlsens, DMG Financial, GBG Concrete & Construction and Turnbull Toyota.

9:00pm          Fireworks display proudly sponsored by Colmac Homes.

Saturday November 3

7:00am          Gates open. Car parking arrangements same as Friday.

8:30am          Arena horse events commence. Rings for the Stock Horses, Australian Miniature Ponies & Small Shetland Ponies and the Clydesdales.

                        Exhibition pavilions opens.

9:00-9.30am Animal judging begins: Beef Cattle (major sponsors James Nicholson), Dairy Cattle (including the All Australian Feature Show with major sponsors WFI and Brown’s Stockfeed), and Poultry.

10:00am        First Jousting Display by Kryal Castles’ Phillip Leitch.

Gippsland Vehicle Collection Display (until 3pm).

Sideshows & rides commence.

Small Farm Animal Pavilion open (Morrison Pavilion).

Kidz Zone activity commences, including clown entertainment, face painting and Animal Nursery.

Children’s craft workshops in the Skeen Pavilion annex commence.

10:30am        Pet Parade commences in Kidz Zone. Handlers under 15 years may enter a range of sections for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and unusual pets.  Entry on the day. Pet Parade generously sponsored by The Vets.
An ‘Animal Handling Participant Risk Acknowledgement & Waiver’ form must be completed by each handler’s parent/ guardian.

12:00noon     Registrations open for Tiny Tots, Junior Showgirl, Pre-Teen Showgirl, Miss Teenage Showgirl, Junior Showman and Master Showman quests in Committee Room. Judging to begin at 1:00pm

12:30pm        Final Jousting Display by Kryal Castles’ Phillip Leitch.           

1:00pm          Arena events continue with the Harness ring, with thanks to major sponsor Sale Medical Centre.

3:00pm          Official Afternoon Tea in the Committee Room (entry by invitation).

                        Sideshows, rides and trade sites shut down.

3:30pm          Public viewing at the Exhibition Pavilion closes.

4-5pm            Exhibits may be collected from Exhibition Pavilions. Exhibitors MUST provide their computer printout to collect exhibit and prize money.

 

 

Sunday November 4

Horse events only (Exhibition Pavilions, sideshows and trade displays shut down on Saturday afternoon).

Public entry is free

8:30am          Arena Horse events commence and continue in eight rings through the day.

The additional ring for the Welsh Championship classes this year will commence at the completion of rings 6 and 7, not before midday.
