If you are a young person in our community who has a lot to offer the region in which you live, and would like to participate in a professional development activity aimed at developing your skills, experience and talents, the Rural Ambassador Award is well worth your consideration.

With prize monies totalling $1000 for both the senior and junior sections, involvement in the Rural Ambassador Award aims to:

  • Highlight the talent, creativity and ingenuity of country Victorians, and in doing so, encourage entrants to be role models across local communities.
  • Encourage and reward enthusiastic and skillful and industrious young people.
  • Assist all entrants, through their participation, to develop strong communication and leadership qualities.
  • Enable entrants to gain a greater participation in their chosen fields and to develop their reputations and statures within those fields.

In conjunction with the Rural Agricultural Society of Victoria, Sale and District Agricultural Society and Victorian Agricultural Shows Ltd, the competition is available in two sections.

The Junior Ambassador Award is for young people between the ages of 16 & 19 years of age, and the Senior Rural Ambassador Award is open to young people between the ages of 20 & 30.

First prize for the winner of the senior section is $500 and for the junior section $200 with runners up amounts $200 and $100 respectively.

Entrants are able to gain access to other professional development opportunities provided by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria during the course of the competition that will also be of great benefit to those participating.

Successful applicants then have the opportunity to progress to the next stage culminating in State Finals held prior to the Melbourne Show the following year, again with very attractive prize money and further professional and personal development opportunities.
